Explaining Cupping

Ever wondered about cupping - what it is and why we use it in Chinese Medicine. Cupping is one of the oldest and most beneficial treatment of Traditional Chinese Medicine and it is most typically used to heal swollen, painful or still joints, to clear a head cold, to increase circulation or remove toxins from the skin.

The Cupping procedure involves a glass jar being applied to the patient’s skin and as the pressure of the jar is reduced (either by heat or suction) vital energy is freed which helps the body to work more efficiently. Cupping is particularly effective in improving blood circulation, performing deep tissue repair and treating areas of the body that have been affected by pain.
